A new training program was recently introduced in the Philippines by the Department of Science and technologies—Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI)—with the goal of educating and teaching the next generation of Filipinos in blockchain and NFT technologies. This instruction, which took place on September 20, 2024, during a forum, is indicative of the nation’s rising stature as a pioneer in blockchain gaming and technological advancement.
The Philippine government is assisting its young in navigating future employment opportunities in these developing sectors by providing them with practical exposure to blockchain and NFTs. The forum emphasised the importance of these technologies for the coming generation by offering insights into how they are changing public institutions and enterprises alike.
Training in Blockchain and NFT for Young Filipinos
To familiarise young Filipinos with the quickly developing fields of blockchain and NFTs, DOST-ASTI organised a tech forum. Aspects of blockchain technology, such as cryptocurrencies, blockchain infrastructure, and the NFT market, were examined during the event. These technologies are at the vanguard of revolutionising the public and private sectors, together with artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
Senior research specialist Roxanne S. Aviñante emphasised the importance of these disciplines for future employment chances when discussing the strong job potential in the blockchain and NFT industries. She brought up the fact that blockchain gaming, which is already well-liked in the Philippines, would make it easier for more young people to go from being gamers to game producers.
Examining Applications for NFT and Blockchain
The forum also covered real-world uses for NFTs and blockchain technology. Another DOST-ASTI expert, Marc Jerome T. Tulali, emphasised that their applications go beyond bitcoin and gaming, giving instances such supply chain monitoring, online voting, and identity management. He presented the idea of SIERRA, a blockchain-based system under development for intellectual property management (Self-Sovereign Identity Empowerment: Reinventing Rights and Attributes).
Entertainment, healthcare, government services, decentralised finance (DeFi), and digital currencies issued by central banks were among the other possible use cases that were proposed (CBDCs). These industries were highlighted as places where NFTs and blockchain technology could spur efficiency and innovation in the upcoming years, hence enhancing the professional opportunities available to young Filipinos.
