Former U.S. President partners with Magic Eden and Slingshot Finance to launch branded digital wallet amid rising political and blockchain tensions.
Donald Trump has once again thrust himself into the center of political and financial discourse—this time by entering the crypto arena with a Trump-branded digital wallet developed in partnership with NFT marketplace giant Magic Eden and trading platform Slingshot Finance.
The surprise launch has ignited a frenzy across both political and crypto circles. A waitlist for the digital wallet has gone live, alongside an official X (formerly Twitter) account, quickly drawing attention from supporters, critics, and blockchain enthusiasts alike.
A Strategic Blockchain Move
The new wallet promises more than just basic storage for Bitcoin or Ethereum. It’s positioned as an all-in-one crypto hub—allowing users to store, trade, and showcase digital assets, NFTs, and engage in decentralized finance (DeFi) activities. Magic Eden brings robust NFT infrastructure to the table, while Slingshot Finance, acquired by Magic Eden in 2024, powers real-time trading features.
Jack Lu, CEO of Magic Eden, indicated the wallet will initially support mainstream cryptocurrencies but is designed to appeal to both seasoned traders and new users with advanced features and gamified experiences.
Political Shockwaves and Public Scrutiny
The wallet’s timing has raised eyebrows, as Trump’s 2025 election campaign ramps up and his media company recently revealed Bitcoin holdings in its treasury. Political analysts suggest the crypto push is more than a tech play—it’s a branding tool aimed at tapping into the growing digital asset demographic ahead of the next election cycle.
However, controversy followed swiftly. Public Citizen, a U.S.-based watchdog group, called the launch “one of the most corrupt innovations in political fundraising,” warning of ethical concerns as Trump’s campaign simultaneously advocates for lighter crypto regulations. Protesters have also criticized alleged crypto fundraising events held at Trump properties.
Adding to the intrigue, both Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. denied any direct involvement in the wallet’s creation, despite the use of the family brand. Eric Trump, who manages the main Trump social media account, claimed to have no insider knowledge of the project.
What’s Next for the Trump Wallet?
Beyond acting as a digital vault, the Trump wallet will integrate with Magic Eden’s NFT ecosystem, enabling users to:
- Trade and showcase Trump-themed NFTs
- Participate in tokenized communities and exclusive digital experiences
- Access DeFi services, including swaps and staking, through Slingshot’s tools
Sources hint that future developments could include a Trump-branded video game, new stablecoin features, and even a potential crypto mining operation—each feeding into his growing media and digital asset platform.
With crypto playing an increasingly prominent role in both markets and politics, Trump’s latest venture may prove to be one of the most controversial—and consequential—moves of the 2025 race.
