The idea of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) has swept the digital world in recent years, completely changing how we see and value art. Although this cutting-edge technology first gained traction in Western markets, the Middle East has also seen a spike in interest in it, with prominent individuals from the area making noteworthy advancements in the NFT sector.

The Evolution of NFTs in the Middle East

As a testament to the UAE’s embrace of digital innovation, the postal operator honored the country’s National Day last year by issuing NFT stamps, which made for a historical event. At the same time, with the launch of the MORROW NFT curatorial platform, Dubai Culture created a stir in the digital assets space, indicating a deliberate attempt to harness blockchain technology’s potential in the area.

Saudi Arabia has positioned itself as a creative powerhouse for NFTs in the Middle East, and as a result, the country’s NFT industry has grown significantly and is expected to develop much more in the coming years. In a similar vein, tokenized digital assets have become more popular in Egypt, especially in sectors like gaming, digital real estate, and art. Notably, collections such as Sphynx Cats, which has 9,099 NFTs, have attracted a lot of attention and have sold out quickly, indicating a resurgence of interest in Arab history and culture.

She is regarded as the first artist in the Middle East to incorporate NFT technology into her work after the triumphant debut of her NFT series, “Beauty in DeFi.”

Ahmed El-Sakka

Through a partnership with Arab Utopia, UPYO has revealed that Egyptian star Ahmed El-Sakka now has an NFT collection on its platform called “Al-Fares.” The collection is divided into four tiers: bronze, silver, gold, and diamond. Arab Utopia owns the rights to El-Sakka in the Web3 world. In addition to the NFT collection, El-Sakka is set to roll out five virtual action Arab games that are based on the characters in his films. Additionally, a virtual museum showcasing his personal items, film and television history, interviews, and items from his appearances in these media will be available.
