‘Really Hard Driving Game’ Is Released by Ethereum NFT Project Goblintown

The new game from Goblintown will be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Goblintown, an Ethereum NFT project, has formally unveiled Goblintown: Really Hard Driving Game, its most recent endeavor. The game will be accessible on Steam and the Epic Games Store when it launches on PC and Mac. The game’s chaotic and difficult gameplay are demonstrated in a recently released trailer, which also makes analogies to well-known endless runner titles like Temple Run and Dookey Dash.

A Difficult Task for Gamers

A never-ending, obstacle-filled driving course is traversed by Goblintown’s iconic Burger Truck in the trailer. The trailer’s closing titles playfully highlight how challenging the game is, saying, “It’s really hard, by the way, honestly, it’s incredibly hard.” Even a humorous story is included: “My mom drove off the side and crashed because it’s so hard when she played.”

Absence of NFT Integration or Crypto

NFT and blockchain integration will not be included in Goblintown, despite its Web3 roots. In October 2021, Steam prohibited blockchain-based games, although the Epic Games Store permits them. While some developers have managed to get around this limitation, Goblintown’s developers have chosen to create an entirely Web2 experience.

“The game is a straight Web2 game using our IP and world,” Truth Labs co-founder and CEO Alexander Taub clarified.

Timeline of Release and Upcoming Events

It is anticipated that Goblintown: Really Hard Driving Game will be released in the next sixty to ninety days. As the release date draws near, more information will become available, such as possible links between Goblintown and Abstract, the recently introduced Ethereum layer-2 network by Igloo Inc., the parent company of Pudgy Penguins.

Taub stated, “Abstract places a lot of emphasis on streaming, and we believe our game will rank among the most entertaining games to stream in 2025.”

The History of Goblintown on Steam

Goblintown has previously appeared on Steam. In 2023, the game Only Up made extensive use of the project’s visuals. The artwork was utilized by the developer, Indiesolodev, under the Creative Commons 0 (CC0) license, which permits unrestricted use of the content. However, the creator later took the game down from the platform, citing difficulties and personal stress.

“I work alone as a developer, and this is my first time creating a game. I made it to test my creativity and learn a lot of things,” they said. “Over the past few months, the game has caused me a great deal of stress. I want to move on from the game now.

NFT Collection Gains Strength

According to NFT Price Floor, the Goblintown NFT collection witnessed a nearly 20% price increase in the last day after the game’s announcement, reaching $573. This indicates that when the project ventures into new entertainment domains, interest in it is increasing.

Goblintown is moving past its NFT origins with its next game release, adopting conventional gaming platforms while preserving its unique, anarchic style.
